Structural Integrity Testing for Heavy Metallurgical Components

MILAB performs non-destructive testing, spectrochemical alloy analysis, and mechanical fatigue evaluation to certify your metal parts before B2B production. We audit tensile strength and flexural resistance under international safety standards.

NDT & Homologation Lab

Accredited by the International Institute of Welding

Our laboratory holds IIW certification for ultrasonic and magnetic particle testing of welded joints in carbon steel and stainless steel components. This accreditation covers procedure qualification and personnel competency for industrial clients in the oil and gas sector.

Every inspection report we issue is traceable to a certified welding inspector (CSWIP 3.1) and backed by a documented quality management system that follows ISO 9712 requirements.

Trusted by 14 metalworking plants across Latin America

Since 2019, we have performed over 2,300 spectrochemical analyses for foundries and forging shops in Argentina, Brazil, and Chile. Our clients rely on OES verification to avoid alloy misclassification before heat treatment and machining.

Repeat contracts account for 78% of our annual volume. The most common request is grade confirmation of 4140 and 4340 steel bars used in heavy equipment shafts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Contact our lab

What types of non-destructive testing do you offer?

We provide ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle inspection (MT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), and radiographic testing (RT) for ferrous and non-ferrous components. Each method is selected based on material type, geometry, and the defect class you need to detect.

How long does a typical spectrochemical analysis take?

Routine OES analysis for aluminum or steel alloys is completed within 24 hours after sample receipt. If you need same-day results for production line verification, we offer a priority service with a 4-hour turnaround.

Do you certify components for international standards?

Yes. Our reports follow ASTM, ASME, and ISO guidelines. We issue certificates of conformity for tensile, flexural, and fatigue tests, which are accepted by B2B buyers and regulatory bodies in the EU and Americas.

What sample preparation is required for fatigue testing?

Specimens must be machined to the dimensions specified in ASTM E466 or your project drawing. We can advise on coupon geometry and surface finish to avoid premature failure unrelated to material quality.

Can you test parts that are already in service?

Absolutely. We perform on-site NDT for in-service equipment such as crane hooks, pressure vessels, and structural welds. Our technicians bring portable UT and MT equipment and deliver a field report within 48 hours.
